A Bit About Me
I’m a Christian, husband, and father who’s crazy about gardening and sustainable living. When I’m not elbow-deep in the dirt or typing up blog posts, I’m usually jamming out on my guitar or tinkering with fun DIY projects. Growing up in a family that truly appreciates nature’s beauty planted the seed for my love of gardening.
My green adventure started years ago, helping my parents and grandparents in their gardens. Yep, as a kid, I thought it was more “forced labor” than fun— especially when basketball and hanging out with friends were calling my name! But as I started my own family, I wanted to keep that gardening spark alive.
We’ve lived a military life (my wife serves in the US Navy), so we had to get creative with limited garden space. From planting veggies in 5-gallon buckets on a balcony of on-base housing to squeezing a garden into a 5×10-foot plot, we made it work. Even with all the moves over 26 years, we managed to grow food— even if it wasn’t always a bumper crop.
Fast forward to today, and our active-duty chapter has wrapped up. Now, we’re beyond blessed to have acres of land for gardens and even a small orchard! In 2022, we dove into beekeeping, which has been an absolute blast— sting and all (ouch!).
Because this is where real garden lovers gather. Where you’ll find the dirt on dirt— from practical tips that actually work, to stories of wins, fails, and those “aha” moments that keep us growing.
We started Omaha Gardener to connect with other garden fans, document our gardening adventures, and share useful resources for everyone—from newbies to old hands. You’ll find everything from plant care tips to garden design ideas, landscaping tricks, and guides on growing flowers, veggies, herbs, and succulents.
Omaha Gardener is all about passion for gardening and sustainable living— no matter your experience level or outdoor space size. We especially love supporting new gardeners and those with limited space and aim to be a go-to resource you can rely on.
