Hey there! I’m Torian, the green-thumbed creator of Omahagardener, and I’m stoked that you’ve stumbled upon our cozy corner of the internet. Omahagardener is a laid-back blog designed to provide gardening enthusiasts with helpful information and resources to help them create stunning and productive gardens. No matter if you’re a seasoned gardener or a complete newbie looking to dip your toes in the soil, Omahagardener has got something for everyone.
A bit about me: I’m a Christian, husband and father who has a passion for gardening, sustainable living, a musician who enjoys jamming out in my spare time, and a techie. Growing up in a family that appreciates nature and its beauty has deeply influenced my love for gardening. When I’m not immersed in my garden or typing away at blog posts, you’ll find me hanging out with my family, discovering new places, or tinkering with some fun DIY projects.
My green adventure began years ago, assisting my parents and grandparents with their gardens. (actually, as a child, I thought it was forced labor, probably because it conflicted with playing basketball and with friends, I know!!!). So naturally, as I started my own family, I wanted to keep the gardening plow moving forward. However, as a military family, (wife in the US Navy) we had to get creative with limited garden space. We’ve experienced everything from planting in 5-gallon buckets on our military on-base housing balcony to working with a 5ft x 10ft plot. Despite the frequent moves throughout our 26 years in the military, we always managed to grow food, even if the quantities weren’t quite what we’d hoped for.
Fast forward to today, and our active-duty chapter has come to a close. We’re now beyond blessed to have ample land for multiple gardens and even a small orchard! In 2022, we added beekeeping to our list of exciting pursuits, and it’s been a total blast, minus a few stings. Ouch.
We started Omahagardener to connect with other gardening fans, document our adventures, and offer valuable resources for gardeners at all skill levels. Our blog covers a wide range of gardening topics, such as plant care, garden design, landscaping, and more. We also share tips and tricks for growing all kinds of plants—from flowers and veggies to herbs and succulents.
Here at Omahagardener, we’re all about sharing the love for gardening and sustainable living, regardless of your experience or outdoor space. We have a special place in our hearts for new gardeners and those with limited space, so we always aim to be a helpful resource.
We’d love to hear from you! If you’ve got questions, feedback, or just want to say “hey,” feel free to reach out via email or social media handles. We’re always excited to connect with fellow gardening enthusiasts and swap ideas.
